Back from New York

May 1, 2007

Best Friends Cocoa made quite a splash at the New York Coffee and Tea Festival at the end of April. We were quite surprised to hear such accolades about our cocoa from such a discerning group of people, who really, had come to check out gourmet coffees and teas. Cocoa sales were booming during a season when we usually have to persuade people to just try a taste. Cinnamon Twist was the biggest seller, with Raspberry Truffle not far behind. This was definitely a different crowd from our usual New England group where Traditional and Marshmallow Cloud reign supreme!

We also made some connections with a few retailers in Manhattan who are interested in carrying the cocoa. So we are looking forward to our first foray into Manhattan! Watch our Retail Locations page for news.

Massachusetts Agricultural Day

April 3, 2007

We had the honor of being chosen to serve our cocoa at the Massachusetts Agricultural Day on March 28, 2007. This event highlights many foods from all over the state and it was held in the Hall of Flags in the State House. We served over 400 samples to state Senators, Representatives, aides and State House employees. Lt. Governor Tim Murray dropped by and enjoyed a taste of our cocoa! We had fun telling all our visitors that they can buy BFC at the Charles River Plaza Whole Foods which is just down the hill on Cambridge St.

BFC is in Whole Foods Markets

February 5, 2007

You can now buy BFC at thirteen Whole Foods Markets in Massachusetts, two in Rhode Island and one in Portland, Maine. We are adding more stores as fast as we can and will be expanding to other states as well. You can find the stores which carry Best Friends Cocoa on our list of retail stores. We have been doing free tastings on a regular basis and will announce future ones on this page. If your local Whole Foods doesn't carry BFC, ask them to carry it! In several of the stores we are becoming their best selling cocoa mix, and in the Woburn store, BFC is served at their chocolate bar as the house cocoa and in their delicious mochas!

Boston Globe Cocoa Comparison

January 18, 2007

We are both bemused and left wondering by this tasting comparison but as they say, any PR is better than no PR! BFC received the best and worst comments of this very unstructured cocoa taste test in the Boston Globe. We strongly suspect that they didn't mix our cocoa properly. There was very little discussion of the ingredients of the different products, which is pretty important unless you like artificial ingredients and hydrogenated fats. We have neither, and you shouldn't have any in your choice of hot cocoa.

BFC Served at the Deval Patrick Inaugural

January 4, 2007

We are very proud that BFC was served at the inaugural of Deval Patrick as Governor of Massachusetts. We supported him since we first heard him speak at a Martin Luther King day celebration in January 2006. Once we heard they were looking for food contributions for the inaugural celebrations, we offered our cocoa and were thrilled to be accepted. After his swearing in, we served hot cocoa to about 600 people. The Boston Globe wrote an article about our participation in this historic event.

The Boston Phoenix Likes BFC

November 21, 2006

We were selling BFC at the Arlington Farmer's Market when a woman bought some and read the nutritional panel. She said it would be a great way to get her children to eat more calcium. The we found out that she writes for the Boston Phoenix and wrote a very a nice review of our cocoa emphasizing its nutritional qualities.
